Five supervisors who work for Vodec’s Iowa operations have been honored by the Iowa Association of Community Providers (IACP) with the 2021 Community Builder Award.

Candice Anesi, Amelia Caniglia, Julie Fox, Collin Hames and Tami Masters were among the 76 frontline supervisors recognized for their critical role in bringing together all the pieces of service delivery. Anesi, Caniglia, Fox and Hames are based in Council Bluffs, and Masters works out of Urbandale.

The IACP supports the more than 130 Iowa community providers so they can fully support Iowans in need of mental health and disability services. “Frontline supervisors have a tremendous impact on the lives of Iowans with disabilities and the direct support professionals who work with them,” said IACP Chief Executive Officer Shelly Chandler. “This impact has never been more evident than in the past 12 months. Frontline supervisors have been a key part of managing the COVID-19 pandemic and dealing with the aftermath of a Derecho in August of 2020.”

Anesi began her Vodec career in 2015 as a Residential Services Assistant in the Council Bluffs Residential Program. She was promoted to Residential Services Supervisor in 2018.

Caniglia joined the Council Bluffs Residential Program as a Residential Services Assistant in 2018. She most recently became a Residential Services Supervisor in 2020.

Fox joined the Council Bluffs Residential Program as a Residential Services Supervisor in 2019.

Hames began his Vodec career in 2017 as a Residential Services Support Staff in the Council Bluffs Residential Program. He was promoted to Residential Services Supervisor in 2019.

Masters joined Vodec’s Central Iowa Residential Program team as a Residential Services Supervisor in 2016. She’s been with Vodec since Vodec began serving Central Iowa consumers.

The IACP received a record-setting 76 nominations for the award this year. Based on the strength of each nomination, officials decided to recognize all 76 nominees as 2021 recipients. They were honored during IACP’s Annual Conference held May 11-14. IACP established the Community Builder Award in 2018 to celebrate the contributions that frontline supervisors make across the state.
