RESIDENTIAL SERVICES

A home is more than a place to lay your head at night. It’s a sanctuary, a safe and comfortable environment where you can relax, have fun and grow. Our residential programs allow people with varied support needs to live in settings of their choice. Learn more about our group home, host home and shared living options.

Group Homes

Do you like to socialize with your peers? Are you looking for a roommate experience? Do you want to become part of a team? If so, a Vodec group home may be a great fit for you. We currently operate group homes in Council Bluffs, Perry and Waukee, Iowa, and Omaha, Neb. If you live in an Iowa or Nebraska community not currently served by a group home, give us a call – we love introducing our service philosophy to new audiences.

Our group homes are staffed around the clock by a diverse group of compassionate direct support professionals who assist with daily living skills – cooking, cleaning, hygiene, personal care, budgeting and social skills. Our staffers also take consumers shopping, to medical appointments and on outings in the community.

Some of our group home consumers participate in our Day Service programs. Others work elsewhere in the community. And others just enjoy living with friends and getting involved in things they love to do.

Host Homes

Residential services provided in a single-family home setting in Iowa are called host home services. These services are delivered under a subcontract with Vodec and are continuous services. Host homes provide specialized training and support for the acquisition, retention or improvement of skills related to living in the community. These include adaptive skill development of daily living activities, including:

  • Personal grooming and cleanliness
  • Bed making and household chores
  • Eating and the preparation of food
  • Community inclusion
  • Transportation
  • The social and leisure skill development necessary to enable the consumer to live in the most integrated setting appropriate to his/her needs.

Our host home services also include personal care and protective oversight as applicable to the consumer as well as supervision. Health maintenance activities, supervision and assistance with personal needs are provided when identified as a need and documented in the team meetings.
