Congratulations to our Project Search (Nebraska Medicine) Graduating Class of 2017! These interns have a 100% post-graduation employment rate already. We’re proud of them for finishing the nine month long process and getting their certificates. We all applaud this huge step on the road to full community employment.

Vodec is proud of our community activity and civic engagement — even on the bad days. Many of our Council Bluffs consumers joined tens of thousands of our neighbors who lined the streets to honor the service and sacrifice of Pottawatomie County Deputy Sheriff Mark Burbridge, who was killed in the line of duty.

These 15 faces represent the pioneers of job-hunting in the WIOA age. They are job seekers in our Supported Community Employment Service. Vodec’s ‘Reverse Job Fair’ was a first foray into developing new concepts to meet the new requirements.

Our Project Search (Embassy Suites) graduating class of 2017 is the FIRST adult class in the world to complete hospitality industry internships through this program. Their nine month series of rotations provided the opportunity to learn skills that make them immediately eligible for jobs in restaurants, hotels, and in custodial and maintenance positions.

In the decades since we first opened our doors in 1968…

We have learned, with certainty, that people with disabilities have incredible stories to tell. They have warmth and love to share. They have the potential to become anything in society. Our goal is to help our neighbors in Omaha, Council Bluffs and Central Iowa realize this potential.

Our Project Search interns at the Embassy Suites (Downtown Omaha) are nearing graduation following a series of rotations at the hotel.

Vodec Special Olympian Mark runs his heat of the 100-meter dash in the Spring Games.

Elm celebrates the loving care and career of Ida Barnes.

Vodec Vikings Cheerleading Team takes a break en route to their Special Olympics competition in Iowa City.

Council Bluffs Mayor Matthew Walsh proclaims March Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.
